Weighing
Weighing and taring are important operations for many methods, particularly in drug discovery and compound management. Weighing is also required for most solid handling operations to verify the weights that have been distributed.
Weighing can be performed either by using an integrated external balance or via the Zinsser Weigh Cell, anintegrable balance that is located directly on the liquid handler deck. Balances are available with 4, 5, or 6 decimal places. Automated covers are used to minimize air currents for fast and stable readings. The Weigh Cell iinstalled in a deck cutout location on top of an antivibration block. In addition, a dionizer can be installed.
Since the Weigh Cell has a high tare range, it is even possible to place an entire block or plate on the balance and tare it. This means that either liquid or solid can be added in succession to the well positions with a weigh operation in between each dispense operation for the highest throughpout. In addition, as shown below, any variety of tubes or vials can be weighed. These can be moved into and out of the balance using the robot gripper.
